My mom and grandma presented this to the kids at our Easter egg hunt and they did such a good job! Here is the break down of what you need and what we gave them to read…I hope you find it useful and your kids love it too!

1. Bible: (Flip through a Bible)
This Bible tells me that God created everything; the sun, the moon the stars and every living thing on Earth. He also made man and woman and everything was good. God walked with the man and talked with them in the garden and they had a wonderful relationship, until sin entered the world. Sin is doing things wrong and that broke fellowship with God. Remember Christmas? God loves us so much that He had a plan. He sent us His son Jesus as a little baby. Jesus grew up and played just like you boys and girls, but Jesus never did anything wrong. When Jesus got older, He began his ministry, He told people about His Father God and He healed people and made blind people able to see, the lame could walk and the deaf could hear.
2. Palm Branch:
This palm branch reminds me of the day Jesus came riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. Everyone heard Jesus was coming to town and they were so excited. They heard about all the amazing things he has done and they threw big party for Him. They tore branches from the trees and made a path for Jesus. They waved the palm branches and shouted, “Hosanna, Hosanna”….can you shout that with me?
3. Coins (begin jiggling coins)
But not everyone was happy. The Jewish leaders were jealous because people were following Jesus instead of them. And Judas, one of Jesus’ close friends, betrayed him and helped the bad guys capture Jesus. They gave Judas 30 piece of silver for Jesus
4. Rope (begin winding twine around your hands)
This rope reminds me that after supper, as Jesus and his disciples were walking in the garden, they arrested Jesus and tied him up, even though He did nothing wrong. Jesus didn’t fight them or argue. He let them lead him away because He was doing this for you and me because He loves us.
5: Branch with thorns (Pretend to touch the thorn and say “ouch”)
After the soldiers and guards arrested Jesus, they made fun of him saying “If you are a King, then where is your crown”? They made him a crown of thorns and smashed it on his head. It must of hurt but He didn’t cry out or complain because He was doing this for you and me because He loves us.
After Jesus’ hearing before Pilate, Pilate said “I find no guilt in this man” and he wanted to release him. But the people cried out, “No, crucify Him, Crucify Him!” So they nailed Jesus to a cross like this one, but it was much bigger and they crucified him between two thieves. Jesus could have called on 10,000 angels to come and rescue him from that cross, but He didn’t. He went through this for you and me even though He had never done anything wrong.
7. Black Paper:
This black paper reminds me that even though it was the middle of the day, when Jesus died, it suddenly became black as night. The viel in the temple was torn in two and there was an earthquake. The whole earth seemed to be sorry that Jesus died.
8. Cloth: (wrap the cloth around your fingers)
Joseph, one of Jesus’ close friends took Jesus’ body and wrapped it in a cloth. And some ladies that knew Jesus also added some spices and perfumes and they laid Him in a tomb….a tomb is sort of a cave carved out of a rock.
They took a rock like this one, but only much bigger and rolled it in front of the tomb. They also placed guards to protect the body of Jesus. On Sunday, some of the women returned to the tomb because they wanted to put more spices and perfume on Jesus’ body. They didn’t know how they would get in because of the big stone blocking the entrance, but when they arrived, the stone was already rolled away! An angel was sitting on the top of the stone and he said, Jesus is not here, He has Risen- just as He said He would. And that is the real story of Easter……Jesus is Alive.
The last thing in our Easter box tells us why Jesus died. Can you tell me why Jesus died on the cross and rose again? (Hold the mirror and let them see their faces in the mirror) Jesus died for you and me! He died for you and me because He loves us and wants to know him and have a relationship with Him. Easter bunnies and Easter egg hunts are a lot of fun, but always remember the real meaning of Easter…Jesus is Alive. Say it with me…..”Jesus is alive….louder…..JESUS IS ALIVE!

Lifestyle newborn sessions are easily starting to become one of my favorite types of session at the studio. The simple, clean backdrop of the studio gives every photo a timeless feel.
I had such a great day with Matty and Emily and loved capturing their newest addition, Jack Matthew. I’ve known Matty since college and I loved watching him become a Dad. Jack is blessed with the most loving parents and I can’t wait to watch him grow up- enjoy!
